Healthy Steps with a pedometer

I just got a free pedometer at one of those employee health fairs. This isn't my first pedometer but probably my fourth or fifth. I've heard that 10,000 steps a day is healthy or good for weight loss... I could be healthier and loose weight for sure! so here we go again, I've learned that no matter where I am i can just begin again. Today is day number five wearing the pedometer.
Day Two: using the pedometer: Tuesday 8/10/10 I was on my way to buy a food processor at a retail store. I parked several blocks away and walked to the store. Overall for tuesday I walked 7,000.
Day Two: Wednesday 8/11/10 high point of the day was I walked 8,500 steps and low point was I found my husbands chips and dip late at night when I couldn't sleep and put a Hefty dent on it. Ugh!!
Day Three: Thursday 8/12/10 Today is a new day so I got up and walked 3,000 steps and then went to Alki Beach and rollerbladed 5 miles.
Day Four: Friday 8/13/10 I worked and met my family out for a movie. We got out of our movie at 9:30 p.m., I checked my pedometer and I had only walked 1900 steps last night. so I walked the outside of the mall and got my steps up to 4500. I was going to go for a second lap around the mall but decided against it after I recalled earlier this year there was a gang related shooting at this mall.
Day Five: Saturday 8/14/10 I've learned this week that If i get part of my steps in early in the day I'm more likely to get to 10,000 steps by the end of the day. I teach CPR classes for a living and I'm sitting in a lecture (by my co-instructor) that I've heard 100 times at least. I decided that he could lecture just as good without me as he could with me sitting in my chair. It's 11 a.m. I'm back in my chair and he is still lecturing and I just polished off 2500 steps making one lap around the very large hospital campus. Yea me for making better use of my time than sitting on my junk.
